Would You Recognize a Scam?

Fraudsters are getting more creative than ever, posing as your bank, a family member, or even tech support to catch you off guard. Many of these scams are designed to feel urgent or convincing in the moment, but the good news is they often follow familiar patterns. With a few simple habits, you can spot the warning signs and stay one step ahead. 

• Pause before you pay. If someone is pressuring you to act fast (especially with gift cards, wire transfers, or crypto), it’s a red flag. Legitimate businesses won’t rush you like that. 

• Don’t trust caller ID alone. Scammers can “spoof” phone numbers to look like your credit union or a trusted company. When in doubt, hang up and call the number you know is real. 

• Keep your codes to yourself. One-time passcodes are like your PIN, we will never ask for them. If someone does, it’s a scam.
