Marketing Director, Melissa, Celebrates 15 Years
"Melissa is a tremendous asset to KCU," shared Luke, VP of Marketing. "She really cares about our members and how we can help them work with the credit union. We’re incredibly grateful for her 15 years of dedication and service to our mission."
In honor of her anniversary, we sat down with Melissa to learn more about her journey here at Kitsap Credit Union. Here’s what she shared:
"I’ve been a KCU member since I was a kid, so it’s always felt familiar to me," Melissa said. "After spending several years living elsewhere, I returned home to Port Orchard and was looking for a job nearby. With my background in call centers, I figured KCU might have an opportunity that was a good fit. And it turned out they did!"
Melissa started out as a general representative in the Contact Center, eventually moving into a role that we now call Associate and Team Lead positions. After five years in that space, she took a leap and applied for a rare entry-level opening in Marketing and got the job!
"As both the organization and our department evolved, so did my passion for the work," Melissa explained. "I took on roles as a Product Specialist and later as a Senior Marketing Specialist, all while going back to school to earn my degree in Marketing. Today, I’m incredibly proud to serve as Marketing Director."
"In Marketing, I’ve had some truly standout moments like co-MC’ing Winter Whirl with Brandon (definitely outside my comfort zone!), my picture being on a billboard (even more outside my comfort zone!), and coming up with Halloween themes that brought out everyone's creativity.
"I’ve also really valued the chance to participate in community events and volunteer activities. It’s always rewarding to be out in the community representing KCU with other staff.
"But above all, the best memories are tied to the people I’ve worked with. I’ve built truly special relationships here, not just with those I work alongside today, but also with teammates who have come and gone. Many of those connections have turned into lifelong friendships. This place is full of supportive, hardworking, and genuinely kind people. The people really are the heart of KCU.
"Looking back, I never could’ve imagined all the paths I’d explore at KCU. It’s been more than a job…it’s been a place where I’ve learned, stretched, and made meaningful connections."
Thank you for your thoughtful work and dedication to our members these past 15 years, Melissa! We're happy you're here.
