Join Us At The Great Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race
Looking for something a little different to do this fall? The Great Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race returns October 3–4, bringing a weekend of creative activity, human-powered sculptures, community fun, and plenty of unexpected moments to Port Townsend.
Kitsap Credit Union is proud to support this unique Port Townsend tradition and connect with the community throughout the weekend. With sculptures traveling across roads, sand, mud, and water, the race is an event the whole family can enjoy, and it’s completely free to watch.
This year’s theme is “Flora and Fauna,” adding even more creativity to the sculptures you’ll see making their way through the course.
Saturday’s events take place primarily in downtown Port Townsend, including the parade, sculpture judging, and the water crossing. On Sunday, the race continues across town with stops at Fort Worden beach and the Jefferson County Fairgrounds before the finish line back downtown.

The Great Port Townsend Bay Kinetic Sculpture Race is unlike your typical race. Teams create human-powered sculptures and guide them through a challenging course that takes competitors across different terrain throughout Port Townsend.This year’s theme is “Flora and Fauna,” adding even more creativity to the sculptures you’ll see making their way through the course.

- Parade: Saturday around noon along Monroe, Washington, Taylor, and Water streets
- Water crossing: Saturday afternoon at the Northwest Maritime Center beach
- Sand course: Sunday afternoon at Fort Worden beach
- Mud course: Sunday afternoon at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds
- Finish line: Sunday afternoon at the bottom of Monroe Street
