Support Services Specialist, Katie, Celebrates 10 Years
Please join us in celebrating Katie Zellmer’s 10-year anniversary at Kitsap Credit Union! Since joining KCU in 2016 as a teller, Katie has built her career through curiosity, dedication, and a passion for helping members succeed. From serving as a Member Specialist to joining the Support Services Card Operations Team in 2024, she has embraced new opportunities and continues to make a meaningful impact across the credit union. Her commitment to guiding members—especially young adults opening their first accounts—reflects the care she brings to her work every day. Thank you for ten years of service, Katie. We’re so grateful to have you on the team!
We asked Katie a few questions about her time here at Kitsap Credit Union. Here's what she shared:
When asked what brought her to Kitsap Credit Union, Katie shared, “I was working as an Assistant Manager at my local Subway and a rep at Blockbuster when the Belfair KCU Branch Manager encouraged me to apply for a teller position. Thank goodness I listened to her!”
Katie joined the credit union in 2016 as a teller and transitioned into a Member Specialist role in 2017, where she helped members with loans and account openings. In May of 2024, she took a leap of faith and joined the Support Services Card Operations Team.
Reflecting on that move, Katie said, “I truly enjoy the work I do and feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such supportive teammates and an amazing department.”
When asked about her favorite memories at KCU, Katie shared that one of the most meaningful parts of her journey has been watching young members grow up.
“I remember seeing them come in with their parents for everyday banking, and then suddenly—almost overnight—they were adults opening their own accounts as they started their first jobs,” she said. “While I have many wonderful memories with coworkers and from various work events, there is something incredibly meaningful about helping a young adult open their first account or credit card after watching them grow over the past six or seven years. Being there to guide them is truly rewarding.”
Katie also shared a piece of advice she has learned along the way: “Don’t be afraid to dig deeper. Ask questions about why something is the way it is. You may be surprised by what you learn—and you might even discover opportunities to make things better.”
Happy 10 Years, Katie! Thank you for all the great work you do to support our members and our community.
