Protect Yourself from Fraudulent “Fraud Alert” Calls
Fraudsters are getting more sophisticated and more convincing. We want to share an important reminder to help you protect your account and personal information.
The caller may pose as financial institutions’ fraud or security teams and they sound professional, urgent, and even appear to be calling from a legitimate phone number. These calls can feel real. But their goal is simple: to trick you into giving them access to your money.
What This Can Look Like
In these situations, a caller may:
-
Claim they are from our fraud or security team
-
Share the last 4 of your card number.
-
Asks you to verify your full card number or PIN
-
Send a verification code (token) and ask you to share it
-
Instruct you to approve or confirm transactions as “tests”
-
Even coach you on what to say if you’re contacted by the real fraud team
It can feel convincing in the moment. After all, they’re talking about your account and trying to build trust quickly.
By doing this, they can:
-
Add your card to a mobile wallet
-
Complete unauthorized transactions
-
Bypass fraud protections
Here’s the Most Important Thing to Know
We will never:
-
Ask for your full card number
-
Ask for your PIN
-
Ask you to share a one-time passcode or token
-
Ask you to approve transactions as a “test”
-
Coach you on what to say to our fraud team
If anyone asks for these, even if they sound legitimate, it’s a red flag.
How to Protect Yourself
