Hello friends,
The summer months are just around the corner, or so we’re told by the local weatherman, which means many of us will be heading off to some vacation hot spot or maybe just spending time with family and friends. Either way, there are many things we need to think about. What’s the weather going to be like? Did I stop the newspaper? What type of shoes should I pack? Do I need a passport? What about identity theft? Yes, we need to consider identity theft.
Nationwide, every few minutes someone becomes a victim of identity theft or identity fraud. Identity theft and identity fraud are terms used to refer to all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person’s personal data and use it for fraud or deception, typically for economic gain. Unfortunately, there are places and events that may increase your chances of becoming a victim of this crime, such as – while on vacation or out sightseeing, or at heavily populated destinations like sporting events, malls, beaches, etc.
Education is a key value at Kitsap Credit Union and we want you to be informed about identity theft and fraud prevention. We invite you to join us on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, for a free Identity Theft workshop. We’ll test your identity quotient to see if your personal behaviors make you a low risk or high risk of becoming a victim of identity theft. We’ll also teach you how to minimize your personal risk factors, and how to help protect yourself, and your assets, if you do become a victim of identity theft.
To register for this free workshop, please call Cathy at (360) 662-2153 to reserve your spot today.
Until next time,
